About Us

The mission of A Shot For Life is to harness the energy and goodwill of young athletes through sports to raise money for Cancer Research.  ASFL was started in 2011 as one athlete shooting basketballs for 24 hours straight at a high school in Massachusetts. We are committed to the fight against cancer and aspire to be the leading sports-related fund raising organization dedicated to supporting Cancer Research.  Cancer touches all of us in one way or another, funding research hospitals and research organizations will go a long way to providing many people a better chance at life.

The origin of A Shot For Life was in 2010 when CEO Mike Slonina’s mother, Betsy Cullen, was falsely diagnosed with a Brain Tumor that was thought to be malignant and could possibly be cancerous.

Graduates from our program have gone on to play high level basketball all over the United States. See the full list here!

Our entire ASFL family is important to us. However, the ASFL hall of fame is where you can find the retired numbers of our organization. Each retired number has a player profile explaining their accomplishments.

All money that is donated from A Shot For Life, Inc. goes directly towards cancer research. From one penny to one thousand dollars, every donation truly does count. Many people believe that since they are not in a position to donate large sums of money then it’s not worth it. It is, every little bit adds up.
